    The Photography Smiths consist of husband/wife photographers Mikey and Samantha Smith.

    We think moments shouldn’t just be captured, they should be handcrafted. And while we’re not great with words, we believe in the power of images to tell our story, and if you’d like, they can tell yours too.

The Senior Model Experience {Fredericksburg Senior Photographer}

Every year I am on the search for upcoming seniors who are smart, motivated and outgoing! My girls from the Class of 2014 are all of these things and so much more! They come from all over Virginia and Maryland to be apart of The Senior Model Experience!  I love each and everyone of them for so many different reason but most of all for their amazing kindness! These girls just clicked from the moment they all met and I know they will all be friends for a lifetime!

On Monday, we all got together for our last shoot together and just to hang out! We had so much fun – it would have been even better if it was just 10 degrees warmer though – right girls? It was about 30 degrees out and goodness by the end these girls were popsicles! They all did such an amazing job of pretending to be warm!

Miss Virginia Teen USA 2014, Olivia Fletcher {Virginia Pageant Photographer}

With all the talk of another snow storm I thought it was the perfect day to share our Miss Virginia Teen USA 2014 snow shoot with Olivia Fletcher! When Olivia won the title of Miss Virginia Teen USA 2014 I remember just screaming at the computer! I was soo excited for her and her family! I’ve been working with her for about a year now. We met through her insanely talented sister Emily who also does a lot of the hair and makeup for my senior girls.

To say it was cold on this day would be an understatement – it was so cold two minutes into shooting no one could feel their toes. The icy breeze gave Olivia amazing model hair but you might also see a few goose bumps because it was FREEZING! I’m so excited to show you all our amazing snow session with her and that gorgeous crown!

Andy and Ashley {VCU Engagement Photographers)

Andy and Ashley are getting married in one week!!! We did their engagement session last month in Richmond and oh goodness do we LOVE Richmond engagements!!! They both went to VCU so it was completely perfect that we started there then headed to Belle Isle for gorgeous sunset photos! Enjoy some of our favorites from their session! We can’t wait to see these two get married!!!

10 at 10 {A Monday Blog}

Whew! I know we really stink at blogging but this month really flew by and 2014 is starting off amazing!!! It’s been crazy but we are going to blog as often as possible!!!

1.) This year’s wedding season is coming up soon and we are sooo excited to get back to doing what we LOVE most! Working with our amazing brides and grooms!

2.) Did anyone else cry at the Bachelorette wedding yesterday? Can you say amazingness!!! That wedding was insanely gorgeous! We stayed at that hotel last year so that made me feel kinda cool 😉

3.) Who knew 5 inches of snow would make all of Virginia shut down! Cohen has not been to school in over a week! This is making our work schedule even crazier but we are having so much fun family time!

4.) Our email has been a little weird lately where people are not receiving them or its going directly to their spam box so decided to switch over servers! The problem should be resolved but if not just send us an email directly to hello@thephotographysmiths.com – we always respond within 24 hours (if not sooner!)

5.) This past Saturday we had an Intro to DSLR class and had 14 amazing students who were ready to learn how to use their cameras in manual!

6.) It was super exciting having our first class in our studio!

7.) We’ve had a few request to do another class – anyone interested?

8.) This Saturday (Feb 1st) we will be have our Valentine’s Day mini sessions!!! A few spaces are still available! Just send an email to hello@thephotographysmiths.com to book! The cost is $150 and includes 5 digital files!

9.) We will be out of the office Jan 29th and 30th for a spontaneous trip but still available by email!

10.) We are really enjoying this snow and had the chance to do a few family snow photos!!! It was the most miserable I think we have ever been but we played it off well 😉 And oh my goodness was it worth it!!! I’m obsessed with how the photos turned out! Mikey is seriously a lighting genius! I suggested the next time it snows we do quick 5 min sessions behind the studio so other families could have cool snow photos but who knows if we will see snow again this year!

Alexa {The Senior Model Experience | Northern Neck Senior Photographer}

Oh I how I LOVE my seniors! Alexa is a gorgeous 2014 high school senior! We shot her session right after a big summer storm and goodness it was humid and just plain hot! But seriously – she ROCKED it! Oh this girl can pose and has most gorgeous smile and seriously rocked the model face! I LOVED working with her! All of my senior girls are completely different but I love working with their unique styles!
